| 内容記述 | This present essay, as its title indicates, aims to grasp the author's ways of preaching, hisintentions and its contents from the beginnig of chapter 4 'Temptation' to 'outer temptation' inthe same one in the Ancrene Wisse (ca1230) through my close-reading of the text, as one of theseries of my so far researching of the writer's sentences of sermons. As far as this paper isconcerned I would like to expound how he (the author) holds the devil's temptations to men andhow he persuades his three sisters whereby to deal with the devil's temptation in the world andgo up to Heaven hereafter, espcially metaphorically in his own words, citing people's commonknowledges of daily experiences and various facts as well as the sayings of the saints andprophets in the Bible and the great wise men in the past. | |||||
